I have the privilege of working with the best team and patients. We see people in all stages of their health journey-patients who have had major events, to those who want to know their cardiovascular disease risks. Some people come in concerned and even terrified. The Prevention Center team provides personalized care giving our patients the reassurance that they can live their lives well. This is why I love to come to work every day.
I love to be outdoors hiking, kayaking, spending time with family and our yellow lab, Albi Jane.
I get to meet amazing patients with different backgrounds and reasons why they come to The Prevention Center. Whether it’s scheduling appointments, or relaying messages for them, I enjoy being a part of their health care journey.
If I was simultaneously doing some of the things I enjoy the most, you’d see me biking through the woods while reading a book, playing ping pong, and eating cookies.
I love that everyone brings a unique background to their position and we will all work together as a team to ensure our patients feel heard and appreciated. From the providers, to our nurses, to the administrative team, we are all giving our best every day-not because we have to, because we want to!
I have 3 grown kids and 5 young grandkids. Baking is a passion of mine and it’s even more fun when my grandkids are “helping.” I enjoy camping in the summer and snowshoeing in the winter. I’ve had the opportunity to travel to Colombia and Guatemala on surgical mission trips and look forward to traveling more in the future.
My first experience with The Prevention center was as a patient. When I had the opportunity to join the team, I happily became a part of a caring and compassionate group of professionals doing amazing, pioneering work in the realm of Medicine 3.0. I love how we work together as a supportive, collaborative group to help patients on their journey for a healthy life and lifestyle!
I’m honored to be working with a team that embraces a philosophy of continued learning, a daily focus on health – sprinkled with a bit of fun and the sharing some fabulous recipes!
I enjoy spending time with my husband and family at the lake or on the ski slopes, creating Snoopy adventures with my granddaughters, and starting my day with a good cup of coffee and my favorite comics – Garfield, Baby Blues, Pickles, and Family Circus.
It’s exciting to see the transformation in the patients that come here to The Prevention Center and the personalized care given to each person. We get to meet people from all over the world and care for them in a way that few clinics provide. Everyone that works here enjoys their job and helps everyone else provide the care and services for every patient.
I am a mother of 4 grown children and grandmother of 5. I’m an avid runner for the last 48 years. I have flown solo in a 172 Cessna plane. Being outside, gardening, biking, hiking, and skiing fill my cup.
I’ve been a patient for several years and now getting to see the inner workings from this side has been awesome. Our providers collaborate as needed and truly strive for personalized care of the highest standard. As many patients have heard me say, “These folks walk the walk”! It’s a joy to come to work knowing I’m with people who sincerely care for our patients, have my back, and want the best for all. I’m blessed!
In my spare time you’ll find me reading, spending time outdoors, and enjoying my addiction to finding healthy and delicious recipes (gluten free of course!). I love hanging out with my best friend and husband of 40+ years, and finding time to spend with my grown sons and their families. Life is so good; we just all need to “keep looking up”
First and foremost, it is such a welcoming and supportive environment. Everyone is so hardworking, flexible, progressive, and above all-compassionate! I’ve never experienced such a flourishing work environment where everyone feels heard, respected, and valued. I am always inspired by our incredible patients who are so bright, inquisitive, strong and more deserving of our holistic personalized care.
I like to spend time with my husband, 2 dogs, friends or do anything outdoors. You can find me hiking, snowboarding, running, and kayaking in the greater Spokane area.
As a dietitian, I’ve always preferred working with people before they become ill or have advanced disease, so PREVENTION truly is my passion. When a patient tells me how great they feel or about a new experience they get to have due to their quality of life, my cup is full! As a clinician, having access to our patients’ scientific data (genetics, blood, imaging) makes for a “whole person” approach to health.
I am happiest when I’m exploring a new place, cooking healthy meals or trying new restaurants, and being outdoors with my family and friends. My 2 school-aged children keep me busy as ever but I wouldn’t change a thing!
My favorite thing about working at The Prevention Center is the privilege of time. It is such a gift to be able to spend more than 15 minutes truly getting to know my patients, their stories, their families, and their goals. I have never been more satisfied with the care I am able to provide for our patients, and with the relationships I have formed.
I have skied since my childhood and now enjoy spending most winter weekends at the mountain with my kids. I always aim to read a book a week-52 for the year already! I love an eclectic mix of fiction and non-fiction. I have 2 children (a boy and a girl), a lazy labradoodle, and a very fun husband.
After 35 years of working as an interventional cardiologist and inserting numerous coronary stents, I always wondered, “Wouldn’t it be easier if we could prevent patients from ever needing a stent in the first place?”. I retired from my busy practice in 2017 and was honored and delighted to be asked by Dr. Amy Doneen, to work with her in the cardiovascular disease prevention arena. In my retirement, being able to continue to have a very positive impact in our customers health is a true gift.
I very much enjoy the beautiful outdoors of Spokane and the Pacific NW. I love the classical music opportunities of Spokane, spending time in my garden and finding “zen” through cooking at home. I just wish my 7 grandchildren were not spread around the entire country.
I started this center over 20 years ago with one specific goal in mind – place the needs of the patient first. To do this, I needed to step outside the constraints of an insurance model so I could provide the time, education and focus necessary to treat each patient as a unique and wonderful individual. I am proud of my team of like-minded individuals who also love to learn, nurture, and genuinely care for each other and our patients. Together, we deliver the care necessary to allow our patients to live in optimal health.
It is hard to separate my ‘work’ from my personal life, as I find tremendous joy in learning, writing, and teaching. Daren (my best friend and husband of over 30 years) and I enjoy the outdoors together as our vacations are often wrapped around hiking and camping. We also cherish our time visiting our three adult children who have all worked hard to enjoy their own careers and passions. Syndey is an advocacy lawyer in Boston, Devin works in Seattle as a data analyst and wrestling coach, and Sophie is a biologist in San Diego. We are blessed.
I continue to find joy and solace in my daily running. I have been doing marathons for over 30 years and have no desire to stop. I no longer strive for time goals but to find joy in the training. The race is the celebration of months of hard work. I use my running for self-reflection, mindfulness, and health.
